Capoluogo di provincia del Veneto.

Sorge in pianura, a nord-est dei colli Euganei e a ovest della laguna di Venezia e del corso del Brenta.

E' bagnata dal fiume Bacchiglione ed è attraversata da molte vie d'acqua, ricordando in ciò certi angoli di Venezia.

Famosa per le sue basiliche, quella dedicata a Sant'Antonio in Particolare.
